Crawford, Ellison Lassell, 1833-1895

Ellison Lassell Crawford was born in Castine, Maine in 1833. He sailed to California in 1852. He first settled in San Francisco and worked in a hotel as a cook. He later mined and owned a store in Spanish Diggings and Spanish Bar in El Dorado County. From 1859 to 1861, Crawford was Postmaster and Justice of the Peace of Greenwood, California. In 1880, he served as Minute Clerk of the California Constitutional Convention. He died in California in 1895. From the description of Correspo...
